You are probably sitting there thinking you’ve seen it all. You’ve used all sorts of duct tapes, blue tapes, electrical tapes, even those highly specialized tapes that don’t even have a name, just a series of numbers and letters. I’m here to tell you, there is one more tape, but fair warning, it’s not for the faint of heart.
Alright, I’ll calm down.
Ultrastik™ tape is unique because it is almost not a tape at all. Some people describe it as a supremely sticky goop that is held in shape by scrim. The pictures really don’t do it justice. The brown surface of the roll is just a peel away liner. Underneath the liner is a double sided clear adhesive. Unlike most tapes, Ultrastik™ doesn’t have a backing. It is just the release liner and an acrylic adhesive with a scrim mesh running through it. It’s pretty much glue that is applied like tape.
This is not a tape you would use in lieu of duct tape, filament, or even regular double stick tape. Its applications are for permanent uses. Such as applying base trim, mounting molding, industrial carpet installation, adhering flooring transition pieces and rubber stair treads. These applications are similar to some of the applications of adhesive caulks.
For ease of use Ultrastik™ comes in various sizes ranging from 1” to 9.5” wide roll. Every size has 165 feet of tape. Even considering how sticky this tape is, the peel away liner comes off with ease. The tape is very easy to use and saves a lot of time on various installation jobs. Any of the rolls that are less than four inches wide will work great on the new Builder Board Seamer.
