When it comes to protecting floors during construction or renovation, Alpha Shield stands out for its durability and ease of use. Before you start installing, let’s walk through how to access the sheets from the crate and then properly install them for maximum protection.
Accessing Alpha Shield Sheets from the Crate :
Currently Alpha Shield FR arrives in 4′ x 8′ sheets, securely packed in a weather-resistant crate designed for convenience and protection. This crate isn’t just for shipping, it’s engineered to keep your surface protection sheets safe from outdoor elements while on-site. The crate features an exclusive hinged door and bundle strap system, making it simple and safe to remove the first bundle without disturbing the rest.
Here’s how to do it:
- Locate the Open End of the Crate: Identify the side with the hinged door- it’s your access point.
- Remove Crate Clips and Screws: Take off the clips at the bottom and the screws along the sides that hold the door in place. Important: Do not remove the latch or hinges.
- Unbolt the Latch and Open the Door: Once the latch is unbolted, swing the door open to reveal the first bundle.
- Remove the First Bundle Using the Strap: For secure shipping, bundles are packed tightly. Use the included strap for safe handling. Pro Tip: Heavy machinery like a forklift or tow hitch is recommended for removing the first bundle.
- Close and Lock the Door for Storage: After removing the initial sheets, close the door and secure it with the bolt lock to keep remaining sheets protected during storage and transport.
Alpha Shield FR is currently shipped and delivered in these crates. Crates for regular Alpha Shield Sheets are coming soon!
How to Install Alpha Shield
Once you’ve accessed the sheets, installation is simple and straightforward:
- Measure and Cut: Measure how many sheets you’ll need for your space, by determining the square footage. For a quick calculation- use our jobsite calculator found on the product information page. For tight or odd shaped areas, use a utility knife to cut the sheet to your desired size.
- Lay the Sheets: Position the sheets side by side on the surface you want to protect.
- Seal the Seams:Use Seam Tape or PE tape to join the sheets together. Important: Do not apply Seam Tape FR directly to the floor surface – only on the seams.
- Anchor Down: Along the perimeter, anchor the sheets with an edge tape to keep them in place.
